TO CELEBRATE National Chip Week, we've put together a list of the best chip shops in the seaside towns of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Abergele.

National Chip Week takes place during the last full week of February and to recognise that we had a look on Tripadvisor to see what the current top recommendations are for the perfect chippy tea in the area.

Here are the Top Five chippies in the Rhyl, Prestatyn and Abergele, according to reviews on Tripadvisor, and presented in no particular order.

Customers rated the establishments for the quality of the food, but also for the friendliness of staff.

The fact that all these chippies got ratings of 4 out of five and higher from hundreds of reviews, suggests we are spoilt for choice when it comes to quality fish and chips served with a smile.

BEST CHIP SHOPS:

1. Les & Rita's Fish Bar

It won't come as a surprise to many, but firmly in the top five is Les & Rita's Fish Bar situated in Rhyl town centre on Wellington Road.

The popular, award-winning chip shop boasts a 4.5/5 star rating from 445 reviews.

Comments include:

"Very clean and staff very helpful food is lovely and freshly cooked."

"Excellent chippy good value for money."

2. The Town Fryer

Next up is The Town Fryer, found on Wellington Road in Rhyl. The popular chippy also has a 4.5/5 rating, this time from 161 reviews.

Comments include:

"Once again best chippy didn't let me down. Brilliant portions, great price."

3. Rob's Fish & Chip Shop

Another 4.5/5 rating, this time for Rob's Fish & Chip Shop in Marine Road, Pensarn. It had 275 reviews.

Comments include:

"Best fish and chips."

4. Karl's Fish & Chips

The highest rated chippy in Prestatyn is Karl's Fish & Chips on Station Road. The chippy has received a four-star rating from 369 reviews.

Comments include:

"Excellent quality, fish cooked fresh, and to perfection."

"Staff were friendly and chatty, even late into a very busy day."

5. Trawlers

Finishing up our top five, is Trawlers in Abergele. The chippy on Bridge Street received a rating of 4.5/5 from 145 reviews.

Comments include:

"1st class fish and chips always cooked to order, the best chip shop for miles..."

"Possibly the best fish and chips I’ve ever had."

A mention must go to the Fish and Chips Cafe in Market Street, Rhyl, which earned a perfect score of 5/5. But, perhaps due to the relatively low number of 25 reviews, it placed below the others on Tripadvisor.

One reviewer said: "We stumbled across this cafe whilst visiting Rhyl, I’m so glad we did! The staff were very friendly and the food was excellent especially the fish and chips! There was a good choice for children too."
