A team of volunteers helped to find and rescue a family lost in the Berwyn Mountains.

North East Wales Search and Rescue (NEWSAR) released details of the incident on Monday night.

A spokesman said: "Our dedicated Search and Rescue team was called into action on Thursday (February 15) evening in response to a distress call from a family in the Berwyn Mountains. 

"The group had become disorientated and tired, finding themselves in need of assistance.

"Our highly skilled and committed volunteers swiftly mobilised to the location, equipped and ready to face the challenging terrain.

"We are pleased to report that the team successfully located the missing family and guided them back to safety. 

"A waiting Land Rover was utilised to facilitate a safe and efficient return for the rescued family."

NEWSAR is a non-profit organisation that relies solely on donations made by members of the public. 

Its team of volunteers are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year responding to those in need throughout Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham and parts of Conwy and Powys.
