A TEENAGER from Kinmel Bay involved in an alleged “ambush” in Rhyl in December has been charged with two more offences relating to a previous incident.

Phoenix Divers, 18, of Rhys Avenue, has been charged with attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article in relation to an incident in Rhyl on April 17, 2022.

Divers, who is being remanded in custody, is due to appear at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on February 21.

He had been charged with robbery, grievous bodily harm, and possession of a bladed article, following an incident in Rhyl on December 19, 2023.

At Mold Crown Court on January 15, Divers denied robbery, admitted grievous bodily harm, and was convicted of possession of a bladed article.

Oliver King, prosecuting, told the court that the December 2023 incident involved an “ambush”, where Divers pursued a man while carrying a machete.

Judge Rhys Rowlands, presiding over the January 15 hearing, set a provisional trial start date of Tuesday, May 28.

*North Wales Police was alerted to the incident, on Bath Street, at 5.35pm on December 19.

There was a large police presence during the time of the incident and a helicopter was spotted by residents, while one casualty was transferred to hospital.

The assault continued into the street and would have been witnessed by pedestrians and motorists.

Another three people were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
