A PAIR of water workers turned firefighters after a car burst into flames following a crash.
Perry Mitchell and Harry Jones, from Abergele and Denbigh respectively, were driving to a job when they encountered the car fire at the Blossoms junction in Bagillt on Tuesday night.
The pair, aged 44 and 29 respectively, work for Morrison Water Services on behalf of Welsh Water and offered their services to police officers on scene.
"We were in the traffic and about 500 metres behind but we could see the flames rising," Harry, from Denbigh, said.
"We have a high pressure hose in the van and managed to get it up by the car on fire. A Peugeot had gone into the back of a Tesla and the Peugeot was well alight.
"We used the high pressure hose and it was out in minutes."
Perry, from Abergele, added: "We've never had to do anything like this before, but it was just the right thing to do as we knew we could help put the fire out.
"The police officers thanked us and we went on our way."
North Wales Fire and Rescue Service sent two crews and an environmental protection team to the scene.
Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
