THE team at a North Wales animal rescue centre is looking for new homes for their furry residents.

North Clwyd Animal Rescue (NCAR) have cats, dogs, horses and some smaller animals, all hoping to find their forever home.

The staff and volunteers at the Trelogan-based charity, in Flintshire, know the animals as individuals, and therefore know what kind of home they are more likely to thrive in.

Whether it's a dog, cat, rabbit or horse, staff are on hand to advise on the character and suitability of each.

They also make sure potential new owners are aware of the ongoing costs of a pet, including food and vet bills, which can often be for unexpected treatment.

But thankfully there are plenty of responsible, loving people and families looking to give an animal a loving new home.

And there are always animals of all types, ages and needs that will be the perfect match.

Here we meet just some of those at NCAR looking for a new home...

• For more details, please visit ncar.org.uk or if you would like to support the charity without adopting, you can visit their cafe, open from 10.30am to 3.30pm. They also accept donations at the centre between 10am and 4pm.

You can also help by fundraising, sponsoring a kennel or supporting one of the NCAR charity shops in the region.

Chunk waiting for adoption at NCAR.

Chunk waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Chunk is a gorgeous boy, aged 15 months, who has been signed over as he is a hunter who was bringing his prey inside. He is a lovely, friendly boy who enjoys attention and being with you. He has lived with children before and can be rehomed with children aged 5+ in his next home. Chunk is looking for a home with a good outdoor area to roam and explore away from any busy roads as he would choose to spend a lot of time outside in his previous home and lived rurally. Chunk has lived with another cat before, so does have potential to live with a compatible cat after sensible introductions.

Maple waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Maple is a very sweet girl who came in as a stray, and is about two to three-years-old. She really loves attention and enjoys meeting new people and is ideally looking for a home where there is someone around for most of the day. She walks pretty well on lead and enjoys having a good sniff of absolutely everything. Her recall is really hit and miss so any new owner would need to do plenty of training in this area. Maple has met lots of different dogs since she arrived and has got on well with each one. NCAR feel she has the potential to live with a compatible dog as long as the introductions go well here at the rescue. Due to her coming as a stray, there is no background history on her, so she is looking for a home with sensible children 10+. Being a hound, Maple would not be suitable to live with cats or other small furries.

Morty waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Six-year-old Morty is a handsome lad who came into care due to a relationship breakdown. He is a lovely, friendly boy who likes attention. Morty is used to visiting children in his previous home but likes his quiet time too, so is looking for a home with children 12+, but younger visiting children would be fine. He has lived with a chihuahua before, so can potentially live with a cat-friendly dog in his next home. He is looking for a home with a safe outdoor area to explore although in his previous home he didn't tend to venture far, this may change when he goes to his new home. Morty is a cross between a Ragdoll and a Persian, so has quite a difficult coat to maintain as he gets knotted very quickly and easily. He will need regular brushing to prevent these, so anyone interested in him must be willing to be dedicated to the upkeep of his coat.

• Vixen is a really sweet but shy girl who came into care as a stray. She was quite underweight when she arrived but has slowly been gaining weight and is starting to look much better! She is really affectionate once she knows you but it can take some time to gain her trust, food usually wins her around very quickly though. She does tend to be quite snatchy with this sometimes. Due to her being hesitant and nervous at first we would be looking at rehoming her into a home where there are no children younger than 16-years-old. When out walking on lead, she can be quite strong but does settle once she gets going. Vixen is still only quite young, about three-years-old, so she will require plenty of mental stimulation and physical exercise in order to meet her needs. She has met a few dogs whilst in care and she has interacted well so far. She is quite confident but not overly boisterous and NCAR believe as long as mixes go well at the rescue she could potentially live with a compatible dog.

• Snoops is a lovely girl who came into care after her owner passed away. She is a friendly girl who was very bonded to her previous owner. Since coming at NCAR she has settled and is being friendly with the cattery staff and is growing in confidence. She is a described as being quite timid in general, so she is looking for a quiet home similar to where she lived before, she has not been around children in her previous home so needs a child-free home. Snoops is looking for a home with a safe outdoor space for her to explore once she has settled in as she has previously been used to venturing outdoors. She has only ever been the only pet in the home, so is looking for a pet-free home.

Brie waiting for adoption at NCAR.

Brie waiting for adoption at NCAR.

• Brie is an awesome girl who arrived as a stray. Her previous owner did not come forward, so she is now looking for her forever home. She was quite scared when she first arrived but it didn't take her long at all to come around. She has been really friendly towards everyone that she has met so far and seems to really love attention. Brie has met quite a few dogs since being with NCAR and she seems to get on well with them. The team feel she may have the potential to live with a compatible dog as long as the introductions go well. She loves running around the secure paddock but can be on high alert at times, her recall will need work though before she is let off the lead in any unsecure areas. Brie can be homed with sensible children 5+ who will respect her space when she requires it. She is ideally looking for a home with someone who has experience with brachycephalic breeds due to the extra care they need and the potential health problems that may occur later on in her life, but we would recommend anyone interested in rehoming this girl to do some research on the breed prior to applying for her.
