ASDA will open its new petrol forecourt and convenience store in Rhuddlan later this week.

The supermarket giant made the £438million acquisition of Co-op’s 132 petrol stations and convenience stores in 2022.

Three sites in North Wales were part of the deal - Old Colwyn (Cefn Road), Rhuddlan (Rhyl Road) and Coedpoeth near Wrexham – with only Rhuddlan left to open.

The site was expected to be converted to an Asda Express by the end of March, but this has been brought forward.

The Rhuddlan store will open as an Asda Express on Friday, 26 January.

Andy Perry, Asda’s Vice President of Convenience, said: “After pausing our convenience rollout during the festive period, the programme is now in full swing once more.

"We have exciting plans to accelerate the programme over the next couple of months with the aim of converting all 470 stores acquired from the Co-op and EG Group to Asda Express before the end of Q1.

“We are looking forward to opening our doors and welcoming customers in new locations right across the UK.”

The Rhuddlan store is one of 21 new Asda convenience stores to open by the end of January.
