A WOMAN from Rhyl who drove a 14-year-old boy from Liverpool to North Wales before he was trafficked into supplying heroin and cocaine has been removed from the social care register.

Lakeisha Evans was struck off after being told that “only a removal order will be adequate” during a Social Care Wales fitness to practise hearing today (January 12).

She had previously been subject to an interim suspension order since July 2022, which was due to expire on January 17.

The hearing, which Ms Evans did not attend and was not represented at, was told that she was convicted of assisting an organised crime group at Caernarfon Crown Court in October 2022.

Ms Evans, who had been registered with Social Care Wales as a domiciliary care worker since December 2019, was handed a 12-month suspended prison sentence.

This followed an incident in February 2021, when a child known to social services who had been reported missing was found by police in Rhyl in possession of class A drugs, a large quantity of money, and a mobile phone.

When the phone was examined, Ms Evans was identified as having had contact regarding the transporting of the child from England to Wales.

Last January, five people were jailed in relation to the trafficking of the child.

The child was trafficked across the North West of England before being left in Rhyl, an area which he had no connection to.

Iwan Davies, chairing the hearing, said: “That group was clearly involved in the supply of drugs in Wales.

“Ms Evans not only assisted the group, but also placed the young person at significant risk of harm.

“Ms Evans’ conduct has, unquestionably, undermined public confidence in the social care profession.”
