THE MET Office experts have offered up their predictions for the north Wales weather for what will be the first weekend of 2024.

2023 ended in frightening fashion across the region as Storm Gerrit affected a number of areas.

But, as we head into the new year, the weather is expected to be quite a bit calmer, according to the Met Office.

Their latest forecast for the weekend of January 6 and 7 is predicting both clearer skies and sunny spells in some parts on Saturday and Sunday.

The odd shower is also 'possible', but it looks as though it may just be safe to head out somewhere nice if predictions come true.

Here's what the Met Office is predicting for the days ahead ...

TONIGHT (Friday, January 5)

Met Office says: "Showers continuing through this evening, gradually easing for most overnight with clearer spells developing. Turning colder underneath the clearest skies with light winds and a patchy frost forming. Minimum temperature 0 °C."

Saturday, January 6

Met Office says: "A largely dry day on Saturday with sunny spells for most. The odd shower possible, these mainly along the coasts. Turning colder with a frost and fog patches by night. Maximum temperature 8 °C."

Outlook for Sunday (January 7) to Tuesday (January 9)

Met Office says: "High pressure dominating bringing generally dry weather with sunny spells, though the odd shower possible. Mostly light winds, turning breezier along the coasts later. Cold with frosts overnight."

Forecast temperatures for weekend in parts of north Wales:
