A 47-YEAR-old man has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit assault following a 'police incident' in Rhyl.

North Wales Police were called at 5.35pm on Tues, December 19 to reports of a disorder incident in Bath Street / Brighton Road.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A 47-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit assault,  and is currently as assisting us with our inquiries.

"A second man remains outstanding, and the victim is being supported by local officers.

Police took to social media on December 19 at 6.20pm to say that Brighton Road and Bath Street were closed due to an "incident". People were urged to "avoid the area".

There has been reports of an incident that involved a "large" knife. This has not been confirmed by the force.

There was a large police presence during the time of the incident and a helicopter was spotted by residents.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called yesterday (December 19) shortly before 6pm to reports of an incident on Brighton Road, Rhyl.

"We sent one emergency ambulance, one Cymru high acuity response unit paramedic and an advanced paramedic practitioner to the scene.

"One person was taken to hospital for further treatment.”
