A WOMAN in Bodelwyddan has helped arrange for a Christmas float to pass through the village later this week.

Sara Hennigan, with the help of charity Rhyl Wings Projects, has organised a route which the float will undertake in Bodelwyddan on Friday (December 15) from 6pm.

The float has typically visited Bodelwyddan in previous years, with Sara saying it carries a great deal of sentimental value to her and her family.

She also thanked Rhyl Wings Projects for having “saved Christmas”.

Sara said: “For as long as I can remember, we’ve had a Christmas float come around Bodelwyddan, but this year, for whatever reason, they decided that they weren’t coming here.

“I thought: ‘I can’t let that happen’. It’s sentimental to me; when it came around during my mum’s last Christmas, she took everything to walk to the door to see it come by, and it would always bring a tear to her eye when she saw it.

“She would stood and watch it go past with my brother, who’s also passed away now. To me, that float brings back memories of my childhood.”

Sara put an appeal out on Facebook, and said that Rhyl Wings Projects has since donated a float, which will also included donations buckets.

Bodelwyddan Junior Football Club is also helping prepare for Friday’s float, such as through gathering donations of sweets.

Starting at 6pm, the float will pass through St Barbara’s Avenue, Coronation Close, Artillery Row, on to the main road to Grenville Row, Park Avenue, St Margaret’s Row, then to Ronaldsway, Maes Stanley, Canolblas Avenue, Bryn Morfa, Bryn Dedwydd, Maes Stanley, Morfa View, and finishing at the Ty Fry Inn.

Sara added: “As we haven’t got enough time to do the whole of Bodelwyddan, if we can arrange another date, we will.

“Anyone wanting to come and see the float at the Ty Fry can do so - we will be there for 15 minutes.

“For me, Rhyl Wings Projects have saved Christmas.

“I asked for helpers, and Bodelwyddan Junior Football Club offered to come around and help, so now I’m on to donations for sweets.

“It’s not even been a week, but it’s all come together. Rhyl Wings Projects didn’t need to come and help us, but to me, it means a lot.”
