Met Office issues flood alerts for Wrexham and Flintshire

Today, regions across the country will see rain at times, heavy in places with some hill snow.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Rain at times, heaviest in the southeast where some localised flooding is possible. Snow falling over the highest ground and perhaps to somewhat lower levels in the north at times. Feeling cold with icy patches possible. Windy in the west."

It will stay damp this evening with further rain and drizzle and some snow over higher ground. Icy patches possible in some areas with poor visibility over higher ground. The minimum temperature will be 0 °C.

Today (December 4) will be showery at first, then will turn somewhat brighter.

It will stay mainly dry through the afternoon with sunny intervals developing in places, however showers possible on western coasts. 

From Wednesday onwards, residents across Wrexham and Flintshire should expect frost and patchy freezing fog clearing leaving some sunshine.

Rain is expected from the southwest though, preceded by hill snow. It will be milder, wetter and much windier to end the week.

What should I do?

The Met Office says: "Keep yourself and your family safe when it is icy. Plan to leave the house at least five minutes earlier than normal. Not needing to rush, reduces your risk of accidents, slips, and falls.

"If you need to make a journey on foot or by bike, try to use pavements along main roads which are likely to be less slippery.

"Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.

"Be prepared for weather warnings to change: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area."
