THE former site of a Rhyl pub which closed last year has been sold.

Estate agents Sidney Phillips oversaw the sale of 13 Russell Road, which was the home of The Swan Inn until it shut its doors in October 2022.

Birmingham-based “Valiant Pub Company” completed the purchase of the property in early August for an undisclosed fee, Sidney Phillips told the Journal.

The property was made available on a freehold basis with a guide price of £170,000.

It also features a dining area, five bedrooms, an enclosed external patio/garden, and a separate shop premises available in addition to the pub.

Valiant Pub Company was founded in December 2021 by Gerry Carroll and Mark McGinty, both of whom have built and operated successful pub companies in the past.

Rachel Wright, who owned The Swan Inn, said at the time that closing the pub was “the right decision for my family and me”.

It was one of Rhyl’s oldest pubs, and the site is situated just off the town centre.

She added to the Journal: “Unfortunately, even after all the effort that went into bringing this lovely pub back to life, I can no longer continue to run it.

“There are various factors that have been taken into account and it is the right decision for my family and me.

“Hopefully it won't stay closed for too long and the brewery will find someone to come in and give the pub the life it deserves.”

Valiant Pub Company was contacted by the Journal to learn more about its future plans for the site.
