A NATIONAL Piri-Piri chicken franchise is about to welcome customers its latest store, at a retail park in Rhyl.

“Pepe’s Piri Piri” will open at unit 11 of the town’s Marina Quay Shopping Park on Saturday (November 11).

This will be preceded by a “soft opening” event at the store on Friday (November 10).

Its opening comes after numerous delays and setbacks were experienced, primarily concerning the store’s gas supply.

But these have now been rectified, with Pepe’s confirming its Rhyl branch will be ready to open this weekend.

It will open at Marina Quay seven days a week, from 11am until 11pm.

A Pepe’s spokesperson said: “We now have gas onsite, (and) we are on course to be the 180th (Pepe’s) store in the UK, and the first in North Wales.

“Grand opening will be on November 11, at 11am until 11pm. To celebrate our opening, we will be offering 20 per cent discount on the first day.

“We are having a soft opening on November 10 where the mayor of Rhyl will be joining us, along with a representative from Development Bank of Wales and Rhyl BID (Business Improvement District).

“Gari Thomas, Denbighshire County Council’s economic and business development lead officer, will also be joining us.”

Another popular takeaway, believed to be Papa Johns, is due to be filling a unit adjacent to that which Pepe’s Piri Piri is taking on.

They will join the likes of B&M, Aldi, and The Range at the retail park.

Pepe’s Piri Piri’s Rhyl restaurant will feature up to 30 seats for diners and will create up to 16 job opportunities.

Contractors Cardon Property & Construction started internal refurbishment works on the two available units in March.
