FRIENDS of Prestatyn Coronation Gardens has been awarded with a “level three” in the Wales in Bloom “It’s Your Neighbourhood” Award 2023. 

The friends worked during the spring and summer in all weathers to further develop Coronation Gardens at Prestatyn, as well as hosting two popular events at Easter and in July.

Friends of Prestatyn Coronation Gardens was also invited by Prestatyn and Meliden Town Council to attend its Chambers, where mayor Bob Murray presented the It’s Your Neighbourhood award certificate.

Youngsters Evie Baker, Sam Walker and Destinee Hillman accepted the certificate on behalf of the group.

The group also liaised with community-focussed manager Jo Wynne-Eyton and young people from Prestatyn High School to help plant a new community orchard at the gardens.

Friends of Prestatyn Coronation Gardens is a voluntary group set up roughly two years ago to preserve and enhance the site.

A direct route to the railway station and the town centre, it was developed in 1911 to commemorate the coronation of Queen Mary and George V.
