A DEAD sheep was found washed up on Kinmel Bay Beach this morning (October 24),  just days after a similar sighting in Rhyl.

The carcass was spotted by a resident, who asked not to be named, at about 9.55am.

She saw the sheep at the far east end of the beach, near to Sunnyvale Caravan Park.

"It absolutely stank," said the resident, adding: "There were originally two; one was taken away the other day. Apparently, it’s been there since Sunday."

Kinmel Bay councillor, Kay Redhead, has since reported the matter to Conwy County Borough Council, as discoveries of carcasses are generally advised to be reported to the area's local authority.

A Conwy County Borough Council spokesperson said: "We received a report this morning about an animal carcass on the beach in Kinmel Bay.

"This has been passed to the relevant team, who will remove the carcass today.

"People can tell the Council directly about issues like this by using the Environment, Roads and Facilities 'report it' map on our website: erf.reporting.conwy.gov.uk.

"This will send a message to the team responsible for action."

On Saturday (October 20), Rhyl resident Courtney Kivell was on a walk with her toddler and her dog when she spotted a sheep carcass, near Rhyl Harbour, at about 4.20pm.

A Denbighshire County Council spokesperson later confirmed that the carcass was removed from the beach.

Earlier this year, dead porpoises were found washed up on the same beach, just days after shark carcasses had been discovered on the shore in Prestatyn.

Rhyl Beach also had squid eggs and spider crabs, which one resident described as “like alien beings”, wash up on its seafront in May.
