AN END-of-summer pub crawl is to take place in Rhyl on Friday, with money to be raised for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) during the event.

Taking place on Friday (September 22), it will start at the Six Bells pub on Crescent Road at 7pm, before making its way through town and ending at the Front Room pub on High Street at 11pm.

It has been organised by Chloe Taylor and Sara Campbell, both of whom run the “Pubs and Clubs of Sunny Rhyl and Neighbouring Towns, Past and Present” Facebook group, which has more than 6,000 members.

Chloe said: “Pub crawls are something that the Rhyl people used to do, and when COVID was on, we couldn’t do anything like this.

“So, Sara and I put our heads together and thought we’d do this at the end of the summer, for all of the people in our Facebook group.

“We don’t know how many are going to turn up – it could be 50, it could be 350!

“The RNLI are only run by donations, and without the RNLI, Rhyl wouldn’t be what Rhyl is.

“We wouldn’t be able to use the beach. Without the beach, you don’t have any tourists. Without tourists, you wouldn’t have Rhyl.”

At the Front Room pub, a number of old favourites from the Rhyl DJing scene in the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s will be performing, including Colin Clews, Darrell Fletcher and Ian Herd.
