SHOPPERS in a major store have been left stunned as they stumble upon Christmas decorations being sold more than four months before big day.

The early appearance of these festive items in Home Bargains has sparked a debate among customers, with many expressing their disbelief and frustration.

So we asked shoppers in Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Ynys Mon if they thought it was too soon.

Gemma Perry expressed her surprise, asking if it was too soon for Christmas decorations.

Rachel Pike commented that she had thought it was too early as well, but was surprised to find the decorations already on sale.

Another shopper, Hayley Ladym, humorously questioned if the weather had been so bad that summer was skipped and they had gone straight to Christmas.

This unexpected early arrival of Christmas decorations has raised concerns that retailers are rushing through the seasons and taking away the anticipation and excitement that comes with the holiday season.

Denise Glynne-Hughes expressed her disappointment, stating that the early display of Christmas items is taking away the fun and excitement of Christmas.

Clare Englishby agreed, adding that Christmas in August isn't a vibe.

Anne Evans said: "Keep Christmas stuff until after Armistice Day."

Hayley Ladym said: "At this rate they'll be selling Easter eggs in November. Utter madness."

Karin Foster said: "Way too soon! It’s August!! Makes you sick of the sight of it by the time you get to December."

This early display of Christmas items not only affects the excitement of the holiday season but also affects other events that occur before Christmas.

James Alexander Gripton pointed out that kids are not even back in school after summer yet, emphasising that the early display could lead to increased spending and early indulgence in treats.

Kerry Moores and Carol Allison echoed these sentiments, stating that it was indeed too soon for Christmas decorations.

However, not everyone is opposed to the early appearance of Christmas items.

Yvonne Evans speculated that retailers are putting out Christmas merchandise early to accommodate customers who may be financially strained and need to spread out the cost of their holiday shopping.

Felicity Riley said: "Price of things, I’m glad they’re giving us a while to prepare slowly."

Pete Fletcher said: "Well they have to fill the shelves with something I suppose…better than seeing the usual two aisles of cheap bleach."

Others, like Angelina Shaw, expressed their frustration that Halloween items were being replaced with Christmas items, wishing for quality items for both holidays to be available closer to their respective dates.

She said: "As a lover of both Xmas and Halloween it makes me mad that they cut down good quality Halloween stuff and display cheap Xmas just to fill the shelves I would much rather have good quality Halloween stuff and then good quality Xmas stuff too when it's nearer the time."

While opinions on the early appearance of Christmas decorations may differ, it is clear that this trend is becoming more common.

Margaret Fisher pointed out that the only Christmas items on sale at this time should be fabric and craft items, as it takes a long time to make these items.

In the end, the early appearance of Christmas decorations raises questions about the commercialisation of the holiday season and the impact it has on our anticipation and enjoyment of these special times.

Carole Porter said : "I saw a couple of lads in Xmas jumpers in Home Bargains, Holyhead!"

Regardless of whether shoppers are pleased or frustrated by the early display, it is undeniable that Christmas is making its presence known earlier and earlier each year.

So, the next time you find yourself shopping in August and stumble upon a Santa ornament, you can't help but wonder if the magic and excitement of the holiday season are slowly diminishing.
