A FLORIST which opened a tearooms earlier this year is in the running for a prestigious award.

Blooming Gorgeous Florist in Prestatyn has named as a finalist for 'Retail Florist Of The Year' in the British Florist Association Industry awards.

The business is the only florist in the whole of Wales to be shortlisted.

Blooming Gorgeous was firstly nominated as 'Retail Florist of the Year' and 'Wedding Florist of the Year.'

Ed Furber, who runs the business with partner Peter Fletcher, said: "In the short time of five years since opening our first little florist shop, we have gone from strength to strength and are now 'working our dream'.

"Moving into our fabulous new location at 98 High Street [in January] is the best thing we did. Business is 'blooming'. Although our florist will always remain the principal part of Blooming Gorgeous, our little tea room is definitely a welcome addition.

"To find out we’d been nominated in two categories in the British Florist Association Industry Awards just blew us away. We work so hard and are genuinely passionate about our work so this really was fab news.

"We chose to be considered as 'Retail Florist of the Year' and shortly after we then found out we’d been shortlisted by the judges from a whopping 40 florists across the country, we made it.
