PRESTATYN was the busiest of the towns and cities in Denbighshire last year, new figures have revealed.
The town had a footfall of 923,039 in 2022 – more than Rhyl, Denbigh, Llangollen, Ruthin, Corwen, Rhuddlan and St Asaph.
Rhyl and Denbigh completed the top three, while St Asaph was the quietest.
Footfall is the number of people entering a shop or shopping area in a given time and has been shown to be an accurate indicator of how busy a town or city is during certain periods of time.

These figures, from Denbighshire County Council, are gathered from each town and city based upon the number of people passing by an electronic sensor each day.
The footfall figures for Denbighshire towns and cities in 2022 were as follows:
Prestatyn - 923,039
Rhyl - 850,663
Denbigh – 654,633
Llangollen – 290,890 (Figure affected by the removal of footfall counters due to regeneration work in the area)
Ruthin – 253,099
Corwen – 102,882
Rhuddlan – 77,689
St Asaph – 45,938
Overall, the figures indicated a strong increase in footfall across Denbighshire town and city centres between 2021 and 2022.
This follows on from the increase seen between 2020 and 2021, continuing the trend of recovery for town centres from the effects of COVID-19.
Denbighshire recorded a total footfall of 2,907,943 in 2022.
This can be broken down into 647,031 during Quarter One (January to March), 747,207 in Quarter Two (April to June), 806,838 in Quarter Three (July to September) and 706,867 (October to December).
