A MAN from Rhyl has launched a drone services business, having had a passion for drones since he was a teenager.

Andrew Glenn Mitchell started Denbighshire Drone Services after it became a “good business opportunity” with the technology required becoming more affordable.

The business worked extensively during nesting season, undertaking roof nesting surveys and pinpointing and photographing nesting sites ready for removal.

It also works in tourism, landscaping, events, film work, promotion and advertising, among other areas.

Andrew, who is a fully licenced and CAA qualified drone pilot, has had the passion since he started flying models as a teenager.

He told the Journal: “I've been a model RC flyer from a teenager.

“As time’s gone on drone tech has advanced and is much more affordable, and the new regulations have made it a good business opportunity if you have the correct regulated equipment, which I have invested in fully, as well as taken much more than legally-required extra training.”

The business is Rhyl-based, but operates across North Wales, with Andrew saying they cater to “all types of work, all fun stuff”.

Andrew is also the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of The Cavernites, a Beatles tribute band who performed at the 60th anniversary of the Beatles’ performance in Rhyl last year.
