A CAFE with a difference which is popular with families and children is looking for a new owner.

After seven years of owning The Sugar Den in Abergele, Tracey Hargreaves-Jones and her husband Russ have decided that it is time to hang up the aprons and turn their hands to "something different".

The brightly coloured cafe opened on Market Street in 2017. The venue, which sells milkshakes, ice-cream, Belgain waffles and crepes, hosts children's parties and workshops such as sand art, building a bear, slime and bracelet making.

Posting on Facebook, Tracey said: "Firstly, nothing is changing with the business everything will run as normal till we find the right owner. However, Russ and I do feel that after nearly seven years owning The Sugar Den, it’s our time to do something different and concentrate on other areas in our life.

"We love this business and wanted to give someone else the chance to build on the foundations we’ve created.

"It has so much scope to be even bigger, we just haven’t got the time to give it what it needs."

In 2022, Tracey made the shortlist for 'business woman of the year' at the SME National Business Awards 2022.

In 2019, The Sugar Den was named Conwy business of the year and was a finalist for best new business in the same year, for small business in Wales, with the Federation of Small Businesses.

During the pandemic, Tracey and Russ relocated five doors down to larger premises.

The business has continued to thrive and has become a huge hit with families and children for its themed parties and events.

Themes include Build A Bear, Fairy, Fortnite, Harry Potter, Pamper, Slime, Superhero, unicorn and crafts.

The Sugar Den also hosts sessions for community groups as well as messy play for babies.
