TWO performers who were trained by the late Trefor Lloyd Roberts have joined the cast for a show in his name.

'Trefor' will be held on Sunday, July 23 at 7pm at Rhyl Pavilion.

It will celebrate Mr Roberts who supported performing arts in the town for more than three decades, through song and dance.

Rachel Roberts and Sophie Murphy, who were both trained and directed by Mr Roberts, have joined the cast of Trefor

Rachel was trained and directed by Mr Roberts from the age of four. She went on to study at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and the University of Oxford.

After graduating, she performed as a stand-up comedian and was a member of the all-female comedy group, The Blue Tits.

She now teaches singing and theatre.

Rachel said: “I owe so much to Trefor. His commitment to excellence inspired so many around him. I’m incredibly excited to once again tread the boards to celebrate his life."

Sophie performed in many theatre shows under the direction of Mr Roberts throughout her teens.

She continued her drama and vocal training, while taking on small roles in BBC dramas and singing voiceovers for various musical television shows. She became a professional singing teacher from aged 19.

She then went on to open a Music School with her husband, specialising in 1-1 tuition in Chester.

The ‘Murphy School of Music’ has grown over the years and won awards.
