A MEDICAL clinic in Prestatyn has shared an update regarding the recruitment of new GPs following its loss of three such staff members.

Healthy Prestatyn/Healthy Rhuddlan Iach, based on Nant Hall Road, is actively working to replace the GPs, who filled two full-time positions between them.

The Rhyl-based Clarence Medical Centre has stepped in to provide “interim support” for the surgery in the intervening period.

A statement from the clinic read: “We are in the process of recruiting new GP colleagues, and our current GPs are reviewing ways in which they can spend more time conducting patient appointments.

“A local practice within the North Denbighshire Cluster will be offering some interim support with additional appointments, which will be held at Ty Elan surgery, just off the coast road towards Rhyl.

“The system of requesting appointments will continue to be of contacting the practice in person, online or by telephone, with all requests being triaged by our experienced team of clinicians to ensure that those with the most pressing problems are seen or spoken to as quickly as possible.

“In order to maximise clinical safety, we have a daily capacity limit; after which, it will be possible to deal with only the most urgent requests.

“We know that the vast majority of our patients have had really good experiences of the care provided by our fantastic team at Healthy Prestatyn.

“We encourage those who feel able to do so to provide feedback on social media, Google Maps and via the practice email to healthy.prestatyn@wales.nhs.uk.”

Patients have also been encouraged to seek advice and self-management for minor ailments using the NHS 111 Wales website, as well as their nearest pharmacies and opticians.

A list of conditions that can be safely managed at home without the need to contact your primary care team is available on NHS Wales’ website.

Last week, Alison Kemp, associate director of primary care and community services (central), said: “The practice continues to be staffed by seven GPs working alongside occupational therapists, advanced nurse practitioners and pharmacists, as well as other clinical and support staff.

“Patients under our care should not see any changes to service performance and support they receive.”
