A YOUNGSTER stuck on Graig Fawr, a mountain in Meliden, was rescued last night (June 7) with the help of a drone.

The boy was initially spotted by Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), before the drone was called in to assist them in recovering him safely.

Thankfully, the mountaineer was found “safe and sound” by North Wales Police (NWP).

NWP Denbighshire Coastal & Abergele said: “Great work by the NWP Drone Unit to help ensure a happy ending.

“Last night, a young boy stuck on Meliden mountain was spotted by our quick-thinking PCSOs.

“The drone pilot was called in to provide clear, situational awareness to colleagues from Mountain Rescue as they needed to survey the dangerous and difficult ground above the boy, for a safe abseil down.

“The incident concluded with our intrepid mountaineer recovered safe and sound.

“Just another example of how invaluable resources like this are to us, as we work to keep our community safe.”
