THERE is still time to nominate a special someone for one of our education awards.

The Journal, Free Press, and North Wales Pioneer are reminding teachers, parents and pupils to take part after launching the search last month.

Together we want to shine a light and to honour all those professionals who contribute to their schools and education initiatives within their communities.

We want to celebrate all those who have risen to the challenge over the past 12 months, who have overcome adversity, shown strength, have been innovative so that they can continue to encourage and mentor their pupils to help them achieve their full academic and social potential as well as developing parent engagement and support fellow members of staff.

So if you know a teacher, support worker or teaching assistant who deserves recognition, get in touch here!

Susan Perry, Group Editor for North Wales, said: “Over the past few years many events have been  postponed or cancelled, but we believe that now – more than ever – we continue to celebrate everything that’s great in the region.

“And that means highlighting the brilliant work carried out by our dedicated teachers and everyone involved in education in the area, as well  as shining a spotlight on innovation and best  practice across the area.

“Our schools awards will aim to recognise the  outstanding achievements of pupils and students, including those who may have overcome the odds  or battled adversity over the last 12 months to succeed in their studies or extracurricular activities.”

Children and teachers, support staff and students, headteachers and lecturers will be honoured at an awards event in October at The Oriel Hotel in St Asaph.

Andrea Byrne, main news presenter for ITV Wales at Six, will be our compere at the awards night.
