A NEW youth centre in Rhyl celebrated its official launch on Monday (March 20), with praise for the impact it could have on the lives of young people.
Rhyl Youth Centre, on East Parade, offers a range of activities and opportunities, including a pool table, table tennis, basketball, chill-out beanbags, art and craft tables, games and music.
The centre also includes a fully equipped kitchen for independent living skills and Agored accreditations, a one-to-one room for individual discussion, and training room for projects and learning opportunities.
It has proven to be a huge success since opening its doors, and provides a fresh outlet for youths in the town.

Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies attended the launch, and said: “I am very impressed by the new Youth Centre. It has been well designed, and I am told that the young people were very much involved in this.
“It provides a comfortable environment for young people to develop skills and access tailored support through activities and training and is a real asset for Rhyl. It is situated in a great location, next to the bowling green and skate park, and is open to young people from throughout the town.
“At the launch we enjoyed some baked treats, which were made by some of the young people in the spacious kitchen, and were shown the activities on offer.
“I would like to thank and congratulate all those involved in the development of this excellent facility and encourage young people in the town to use it.”
Rhyl East County Councillor Justine Evans, who also attended the launch, said:
“It is important that young people have a safe and relaxed place to hang out and Rhyl Youth Centre provides just that.
“With the young people very much involved in the planning and the design of the centre, it provides everything a young person could want.
“The Youth Services team and the young people themselves deserve huge praise for what they have created.”
Regular opening times of the Youth Centre are:
Tuesday 6pm to 8pm: junior session for young people aged 11 to 13
Wednesday 6pm to 8pm: senior session for young people aged 14 to 17
