ZIP World’s new Skyflyer attraction in Rhyl is to be deflated after the third postponement of its official launch.

The attraction, which will take thrill-seekers 400ft up in the air, was due to launch last July, then last August, and then last weekend.

But its take-off was delayed indefinitely on March 8 due to an “engineering and design challenge” found during testing.

Rhyl Skyflyer launch postponed again after encountering ‘setback’

As a result, the blimp, which is located along Rhyl’s beachfront by the Pavilion Theatre, will be deflated this weekend.

A Zip World statement read: “Zip World will be deflating Skyflyer over the weekend to resolve the issue discovered the other week.

“We will be in touch with further updates as soon as we have any.”

The Skyflyer was also deflated last summer following the delays to its launch.

Its re-inflation, on March 2, took roughly six hours to complete.

The 20th adventure launched by Zip World, the Skyflyer enables passengers to enjoy panoramic views of the North Wales coast and beyond.

On a clear day, passengers can see all the way to Liverpool and the Wirral, including the peaks of Moel Famau and Snowdonia.

The ascent takes three minutes and the ride is accessible to wheelchair users, people with other disability needs, people of all ages, and dogs.

Zip World said last week that it would be in touch with those who had already booked a ride on the Skyflyer, and said it will confirm its new opening date as soon as possible.
