A VOLUNTARY group formed to preserve and improve Coronation Gardens in Prestatyn is planning an event at the site for King Charles III’s coronation on May 6.

“Friends of Prestatyn Coronation Gardens” are also currently planning a future visit to a stately home and gardens, with input from its head gardener.

The group recently held its first annual general meeting after a successful launch at the end of 2021.

It was set up after a public consultation and survey was carried out to consider how the site can be restored as an outdoor leisure space.

The group’s former chair, Gill German, stood down from the role due to increased work commitments, and Janet Szabo was elected as her successor, to lead the group into 2023.

Meanwhile, members planted daffodils and crocuses last autumn and have been rewarded with a lovely flower display in the gardens.

Sharon Pritchard, group secretary, added: “We have a program of events planned for 2023.

“If anyone is interested in joining the group, coming along to our community planting sessions, or attending a future meeting or event, they are welcome to get in touch with us.”
