WEEKLY youth activities will be provided in Rhuddlan at the town’s new community hub.

These will take place at Hwb Rhuddlan, which is located adjacent to Admiral’s Field and consists of two new public toilets (one for disabled use) and a large internal multi-use space.

The building was previously a day nursery until it was purchased and refurbished by Rhuddlan Town Council, and re-opened on St David’s Day.

At a Rhuddlan Town Council meeting on Thursday (March 9), it was agreed that bilingual weekly youth activities will be organised at the hub.

These will be held on a weekly basis, for 42 weeks of the year.

In addition to these weekly sessions, youngsters will have access to a whole summer provision, which will include day trips, plus the Urdd youth activities.

The open-access sessions allow the three youth workers who will be running the sessions to identify young people needing one-to-one support and referrals to other agencies.

It is anticipated that the sessions will start in May, with Rhuddlan Town Council funding one of the youth workers and providing the hub’s facilities.

Cllr Mike Elgin, mayor of Rhuddlan, said: “After many years of trying to get a youth centre for the youth of Rhuddlan, it is finally materialising, which is great news.

“As mayor I would like to thank the town council, the clerk and Denbighshire County Council’s youth services for making this possible.”
