FOLLOWING last week’s look back at when the film Holiday on the Buses was shot in Prestatyn in 1973, now we remember the 2004 unveiling of a plaque celebrating it.
On October 22, 2004, the film, shot at the town’s Pontins holiday camp, was honoured as part of the North Wales Film and Television Trail.
James Griffith, the grandson of one of the film’s stars, Doris Hare, was among the guests of honour when the plaque was unveiled at Pontins by actor Stephen Lewis.

Stephen played Blakey in the film and the television series, “On the Buses”, on which it was based.
James said: “I remember coming across the old bridge in Rhuddlan and the police were there, along with a motorbike and sidecar.
“We thought there’d been an accident but when we looked closer, we realised my grandmother was sat in the sidecar!”
Finance manager Darrio Touhladjien and maintenance manager Kevin Shepherd were also guests of honour, having worked at Pontins at the time of filming.
