ADVENTURE company Zip World will soon be flying high above Rhyl, with the introduction of its 23rd adventure, Skyflyer.

Located at its site along Rhyl’s beachfront adjacent to the Pavilion Theatre, the flagship attraction airship will open to public on Saturday, March 11.

Visitors will be elevated 400ft in the air to soak up panoramic views of the North Wales coast, Liverpool, the Isle of Man and beyond.

It was initially due to open in July 2022, but was delayed due to wind and weather conditions not being ideal to perform its first full inflation.

The launch was then postposed until early August, but an “engineering and design challenge” found during testing led the company to confirm that it would not be possible to launch in 2022.

Zip World founder and president, Sean Taylor, said: “We’re proud to be bringing this sight-seeing adventure to the ever-growing town of Rhyl.

“The North Wales coastline boasts some of the best views in the country and we’re looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike to soak up the scenery.

"This year marks our 10-year anniversary, and we’re excited to be kicking it off with the launch of Skyflyer which offers an unforgettable experience for people of all ages and abilities.”

This will join Zip World’s three other sites in North Wales, one in South Wales, and two in the North of England, with more attractions planned for 2023.

Also boasting the world’s fastest zip line in Penrhyn Quarry, which reaches speeds of 100mph, the adventure company has helped to put Wales on the map as an adventure hub.

Jamie Groves, managing director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd, said: “Following the success of all the company investments in Rhyl, we are thrilled to be working in partnership with such a highly regarded brand as Zip World to deliver this new attraction and hospitality offer next door to the Rhyl Pavilion.

“This is a fantastic new partnership and a great endorsement for the strength of the brands working together.

“Attracting a brand such as Zip World truly demonstrates Rhyl is the up-and-coming destination, and the place to invest.

“Reaching from Moel Famau, to the Great Orme in Llandudno, all the way to Liverpool and Ireland on a clear day, this experience is one not to be missed for couples, families, day-trippers and holidaymakers.

“We cannot wait for visitors to experience Skyflyer, taking off from Rhyl this spring!

“With plenty of parking nearby, and a plethora of shops, and entertainment; and of course, visitors will have the added opportunity of trying the flagship restaurant, 1891.”
