A HOSPICE in St Asaph has launched a new appeal for funds amid a sharp increase in costs to keep it afloat.

St Kentigern Hospice, which cares for patients with any life-limiting condition and their families, has seen its running costs increase by 67 per cent in the last year.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, it lost 60 per cent of its fundraising income, and the hospice said the current cost of living crisis has exacerbated these financial concerns.

In response to these worries, it has started the “Help Your Hospice” appeal, from which it hopes to raise £20,000 in the next three months to put towards its energy costs.

A hospice spokesperson said: “St Kentigern Hospice is your hospice. We exist for you, for when you need us most.

“We cannot compromise on keeping our patients warm, safe and comfortable when they need us most.

“We are asking for donations to help keep the hospice running during these challenging times. We need to continue to provide the much-needed support for our patients and their families.”

You can either donate online, through the hospice’s JustGiving page, or get in touch with its fundraising team directly to make an offline donation.

The hospice spokesperson added: “Perhaps you could donate your daily coffee purchase for a week, or even a good old-fashioned bake sale!

“Whatever you can spare, your kind donation means that people with life-limiting illnesses and their families will continue to receive our expert attention, support and end-of-life care.”
