CHILDREN who had been baptised in a church came together to put on a nativity play.

Father Timothy Lipscomb, priest in the Bryn a Môr Area rooted within St Bridget and St Cwyfan Parish Church, Dyserth, came up with the idea; to produce a nativity play that drew together children of families he had met via Baptisms over his two-and-a-half-years as priest.

About 80 people, including over 20 children, turned out for the service. One included a girl from New Zealand; Grace Field and Ezmai Field are aunt and niece respectively who were christened together at St Bridget's.

Grace lives in Rhyl but Ezmai came over from New Zealand for the service.

A Church spokesperson said “It was a huge success and a fitting turnout for Fr Timothy’s last Christmas as Parish Priest. His pastoral work is re-knowned throughout our community.”

A Christingle service opened the proceedings and the nativity play followed.

A retiring collection of £90 will be donated to the Archbishop’s Fund for deprived children.

Services at St Bridget’s in Dyserth will be covered on Wednesdays and Sundays at 10pm throughout January until a decision is made regarding a permanent replacement.
