TY MAWR Holiday Park in Towyn has reason to celebrate following a Visit Wales Quality Assessment and Star Ratings inspection.

The 2022 inspection saw the park receive a prestigious five-star rating, the highest a business can be awarded.

The park also jumped from a rating of three stars, based on the previous inspection in 2018.

With strict criteria, the rating was based on the facilities available and overall quality of the experience at the holiday park, with elements of review including quality of the business, consistency in key areas, and facility requirements.

Ty Mawr is owned by Parkdean Resorts, the UK’s largest holiday park operator, and employs almost 200 people in peak season.

One of the company’s “Parks of the Future”, more than £7.5million has been spent on it since 2019 to improve guests’ experience.

This has included family activities such as a high ropes course, bungee trampolines, hoverboards, laser tag, virtual reality experience and a sports dome.

In addition, there have been revamped food, beverage and entertainment facilities, and improved accommodation options.

This year, 23 upgraded caravans were introduced to replace existing fleet, and park-wide Wi-Fi capability was introduced, as part of a nationwide investment of £140m.

Catherine Lynn, chief customer officer of Parkdean Resorts, said: “We’re continually striving to improve the customer experience at our parks, and the team at Ty Mawr have done a fantastic job in delivering consistently high levels of service to our holidaymakers.

“It’s a real achievement for everyone at the park to have increased their rating by not just one, but two stars, and this is testament to all the hard work everyone has put in.

“As well as being an important benchmark for us internally, Visit Wales’ ratings resonate with consumers, so it’s hugely encouraging to see that we continue to go from strength to strength.”

Ty Mawr was also one of five Welsh parks that took part in the Great British Beach Clean in September.

In total, 83 bags of litter were collected from the shores of Welsh beaches, weighing in at a total of 257lbs.
