AN ARTIST from St Asaph has created an incredible painting of a couple from Canada who found love in their 70s.

Elysia Gilman, 22, also shared a video depicting the process by which the painting came together on her TikTok page, which has garnered roughly 9.5million views so far.

The painting captures the wedding of Lin Rubin and her husband, Harold, in 2020; the couple met in May 2019.

Lin’s daughter, Sharon, commissioned the painting, and Elysia said she was delighted with the end result.

Elysia said: “It’s crazy, it’s the most views I’ve ever had (on a TikTok post), so it was a bit strange to see it shoot up and keep on going!

“I tend to share my process on TikTok, people like to see the whole process from start to finish.

“I think Sharon got in touch with me after she saw another video on my TikTok page, and thought she’d love a portrait of her mother, who found love again in her 70s.

“It takes quite a while to dry, because it’s done in oils, so they haven’t received it yet, but they’ve seen photos and videos of it, and Sharon absolutely loved it.

“Once it’s dry, I’ll just varnish it and package it up.”

Elysia added that painting took her roughly two weeks to complete it, and finished it at the end of October.

Already this year, another piece of artwork created by Elysia was shown on the screens of Times Square in New York.

In September, meanwhile, she shared an incredible painting celebrating the life of Queen Elizabeth II following the monarch’s death.

She’s currently working on another double-portrait commission of two siblings from America.

Elysia added: “I’ve had quite a few in America and Canada. I seem to be quite popular over there – quite a lot of my commissions come from overseas!

“I do have a few in the UK, and particularly when I was starting out, it was more local people, but the beauty of TikTok is that you can reach so many people.

“I’m learning so much, and have still got a long way to go, so I don’t see it as having ‘made it’ yet!”
