BEST wishes have been sent to the former top coach at Prestatyn Tennis Club following his retirement after more than two decades at the club.

Colin May dedicated 22 years of service to the club after moving to Prestatyn from Maidenhead.

He soon established himself there, becoming club captain and organising tournaments on club nights.

The club presented him with a plaque following his retirement, with the words “in appreciation for all your coaching services, from your friends at Prestatyn Tennis Club” inscribed on it.

On behalf of Prestatyn Tennis Club, fellow member Gabby Waring wished him well in his retirement.

She said: “Colin started coaching the older juniors, some of whom have gone on to become great tennis players themselves.

“In the past years, Colin has concentrated on coaching juniors as well as adults, enthusing them with his love of the game.

“As well as coaching, Colin has kept busy carrying out maintenance work at the tennis club, as well as restringing tennis racquets!

“Colin will be sorely missed by many. We wish him all the best for the future.”
