WE asked Journal readers what the first nightclub they went to in Rhyl was – these were some of their answers.

Andrea Parry – “We would start in the Bistro, then on to the Palace followed by the Haven then finally the Bridge Club before walking home to Towyn ( in high heels) - those were the days”

Rachel Wrigley – “Downtown! I remember climbing the steep staircase and listening to great music at the top”

Melissa Winspear – “Poppy’s - don’t tell my mother”

Sue O’Riordan – “Dixieland - great Motown and Northern Soul discos. Moved on to the Downtown when just a bit older”

Wendy Thistlewood-price – “Rosie O’Grady’s and Zinc”

Hefina Jones – “Late 60s it was the Queen of Clubs for us under 18s. FABULOUS place with live music and the strongest drink was Coca Cola but we made up for that in the Queens bar”
