A RHYL bistro and bar has introduced a special new menu to help customers and families cope with the current cost of living crisis.

Harrisons Bistro & Bar, on Wellington Road, launched its “cost of living offer” yesterday (October 4), which will now run from Tuesday to Friday every week from 3 – 6.30pm.

The menu includes:

• Main courses (cottage pie, chicken casserole, beef curry, sausage and mash, fish and chips, sausage and chips with curry) for £5.50.

• Bottomless tea and coffee for £1.50.

• Children eat for £1.50.

• Children’s drink and ice cream for 50p.

A range of board games will also be available for families to play and hopefully enjoy some quality time together.

Owner Michelle Mellor, who also runs Denbighshire’s “mobile meals” service, said she hopes it will prove worthwhile, even if only makes a small difference.

Michelle said: “People have said that they’re going to struggle to heat their homes and feed themselves with the cost of living, so I just took the opportunity to devise a menu, so that they could come here as a family, eat and keep warm.

“We’ve bought lots of great board games as well, so that they can have some quality time and have a cheap, hearty meal.

“We’re staying open later in the evening, so at least people can finish work, then come.

“It (cost of living) is a challenge day to day, with the bills coming in and food prices going up, but we’re just trying to work on volume.

“If there are calls for it run later, or on more days, I can obviously look at that.

“We’ve got wooden 10-pin bowling, mini Connect Four, some younger ones for younger families – just nice little table games that they can play.

“We’ve tried and tested them on customers already, who have said what a lovely idea it is.

“We had a couple of tables in yesterday, and a few more booked in this evening and on Friday night.

“Some people have asked if we can still eat from the normal menu, which is fine, of course, but this offer is there now for those who need it.”
