A CHILDREN’S soft play area and café in Rhyl has been put up for sale.

“Planet Play”, on Vale Road, was set up by owner Jan Vann and his wife three years ago, but the couple have decided to sell due to personal reasons.

An asking price of £12,000 has been set, which will cover all of the soft and outdoor play equipment and other facilities at the premises, while the property will be leased at £650 per month.

Jay and his wife will continue to run the other “Planet Play” site in Towyn.

He called the Rhyl play area a “great opportunity” for whoever buys it, and promised to offer any support he can to the new owner.

Jay said: “We’re moving on from here for personal reasons. It’s a decision we’ve made over the last few months; it’s not financial, really.

“Since my wife and I have been here, we’ve set two other businesses up, so we’re quite busy, and have got young children.

“Because we’ve kitted the place out, we’ve decided not to take any of that with us, so somebody can come in and take over all the equipment.

“The £12,000 covers all of the equipment. We fitted the shop out, which cost a lot more of that.

“They’ll come in and everything is done for them; they’ve just then got to put their branding on the place, and take a new lease out with the property owner, which would be £650 a month.

“It’s going to stay as a play area, but be rebranded by the new owners. That’s our plan, because it’d be a shame for it to go. We’ve had a lot of interest.”

Entertainment for children at “Planet Play” in Rhyl includes soft play, slime-making, paint pottery, “Digger Den”, a bouncy castle, food and drink and “Build a Bear”.

And while Jay is now keen to sell, he said he will look back with great fondness and pride on the last three years at the site.

He added: “We’ve had some great times. We’ve met loads of great people and had hundreds of parties; it’s been fantastic.

“Obviously, we’ve had bad times, with things like COVID, but we’ll only take the positives from it.

“We’ve built a really good reputation over the last three years, and we’ve created a really homely place here.

“The new people who come in have got it so lucky because we had to build it all up; they’ve already got a customer base which will still come in.

“It’s a great opportunity for the lucky person who gets it, and we’ll support them with anything as well.”
