MEMBERS of Parliament and Members of the Senedd in North Wales have paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who died yesterday.

The Queen died peacefully at her Balmoral Castle estate yesterday, The Royal Family said.

Plaid Cymru Westminster leader and MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd, Liz Saville Roberts, said: "The Plaid Cymru group in Westminster extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family during this very sad time.

“Her Majesty the Queen has been a constant in all our lives during a period of vast changes for Wales, the United Kingdom and the rest of the world. She dedicated her life to public service and duty. Such values are dear to the people of Wales. May she rest in peace.”

James Davies, MP for Vale of Clwyd, said the news was ‘truly devastating’, adding: "The Queen was a remarkable lady, admired and respected across the world, who devoted her life to this country and all it stands for. She was a beacon of stability during 70 years which saw immense change.

"Thank you Ma'am. Rest in peace."

Clwyd West MP David Jones expressed his ‘profound sadness’ over the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and said at Westminster: “Like all of Her Majesty’s people, I am profoundly saddened by this news.

“The Queen was the longest-lived British monarch; most of us cannot remember a time when she was not a reassuring presence at the head of our country.

“Her Majesty guided us with grace, wisdom, charm and good humour. She never put a foot wrong, she never let us down.

“Our sorrow at her death will be tempered by our knowledge that she lived a long, healthy, fulfilled life, supported by HRH Prince Philip and her devoted children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

“All our thoughts must be with the Royal Family as they mourn, with all of us, the passing of the foremost woman of our age.”

“The Queen has been our rock for 70 years but her glorious reign is finally at an end and I know many on the island will grieve.

“It is difficult to comprehend a life without her as so many have no other experience than the Queen being our head of state.

“Her devotion to her country and Commonwealth has been the defining aspect of her reign. Life in the United Kingdom will be very different without her but her duty and her service will never be forgotten.

“May you rest in peace your Majesty."
