A FUNDRAISER based in Rhyl hopes to have raised £750 after he walked up Snowdon for charity last weekend while dressed as a teddy bear.

Richard Kendrick, led a group of nine up the Llanberis Path on Saturday, August 20 while wearing the bear suit in aid of the Royal British Legion, who Richard dedicates much of his fundraising efforts to.

Joining Richard was guide Ady and liaison Tembo, veterans Luke Davies, Darrell Turner, Mark Adcock, Connor Adcock, and Kian Marrison, a Royal Marine sea cadet, and his friend Dean.

Richard and his team braved all forms of weather while completing the 14.5km walk, but was delighted to complete the fundraiser in support of a cause close to his heart.

Richard said: “Saturday’s walk went really well. It took us about two hours and 35 minutes to get to the top – there was a bit of a queue at the top, and it was very windy!

“I needed help getting up the last steps due to winds blowing me around. The weather changed so much; from cool, to wet, strong winds and thick fog, then it was boiling hot as we came down.

“It was great fun going up and down, and meeting so many different people.

“Coming down took longer due to so many wanting pictures with the bear. I got a few rounds of applause from people who were shocked to see a big teddy bear.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had my picture taken so many times! We should raise about £750 when all of the money is in.

“We will do more walks with Ady as the bear for other local charities in the future. He was such a great guide.”
