NEW food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Denbighshire’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Wong Sing, at 47 Trellewelyn Road, Rhyl was handed a two-out-of-five rating after assessment on June 29.

Wong Sing has a 3.5 rating on TripAdvisor from 14 reviews, with the most recent reviewer in December 2021 vowing to “never visit again” after receiving chicken wings “black on the inside” and chips that tasted like “cardboard”.

Yummy Kitchen, at 95 Rhyl Coast Road, Rhyl was also given a score of two on June 29.

Yummy Kitchen has a 3.5 rating on TripAdvisor from 52 reviews, with the most recent reviewer in June 2022 saying it was the “best Chinese ever”, with a review the day before alleging that the premises had served uncooked fish, with the middle “raw and pink”.

Both takeaways’ management of food handling was rated ‘very good’, while its cleanliness was ‘generally satisfactory’ and hygienic food handling was rated ‘improvement necessary’.

It means that of Denbighshire's 91 takeaways with ratings, 38 have ratings of five and three have zero ratings.
