Following its first big recruitment drive since the COVID-19 pandemic, eight new people are in training to become volunteer crew at Rhyl Lifeboat Station.

The new crew are Adam Jones-Booth, Craig Kelly, Harry Clews, Jack Blanchard, James Strauch, John Hughes, Marty Teal and Rosa Tomassi-Bella.

They will now undergo training, supported by the other volunteer crew at the station, to gain the skills and knowledge required to help save lives at sea.

The new crew bring a range of different experiences with them but they all have one thing in common, they are giving up their time to volunteer for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in Rhyl.

Martin Jones, coxswain at Rhyl Lifeboat Station, said: “It’s always a great feeling to welcome new crew trainees to Rhyl.

“We’re a busy station and being a volunteer demands a lot of people’s time and commitment so having new crew will really help.

“I’m looking forward to working with them all as they progress through their training.”

“Not only do I want to do my part to help save lives at sea but also its an opportunity to be part of a fantastic team and community in which I live.

“I’m really excited to learn from my peers, all of which have been so generous with their time and knowledge and made me feel part of the RNLI family.

“I’m passionate about putting my skills to the best possible use, to help save lives.”
