Record-breaking heat is set to hit parts of Wales today as temperatures are predicted to hit 36C in North Wales.

Parts of England have been given a red weather warning for today, where the temperatures could soar as high as 40 °C.

Meanwhile, here in Wales, an amber weather warning remains in place today and tomorrow.

In Denbighshire today, temperatures will be at 30C or higher for most of the afternoon.

Temperatures wil drop as low as 24C by 10pm.

The coastal towns of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Abergele will enjoy hot weather all day.

In Rhyl, temperatures will peak at 34C between 1pm and 3pm. They will cool to 24C by 10pm.

It will be slightly cooler in Prestatyn, reaching a high of 32C at about 1pm.

It will be cooler again in Abergele, in neighbouring Conwy, reaching 30C between 4pm and 6pm.

The highest temperature away from the coast is likely to be in Llangollen, with temperatures peaking at 36C between 3pm and 5pm.

It is much the same in Ruthin, where temperatures are likely to reach 35C between 2pm and 5pm.

Denbigh will see temperatures up to 34C between 2pm and 6pm. It is also likely to experience the coolest temperature today of 23C at 10pm.
