AN INCIDENT on the A548 has caused the road to close between Rhyl and Prestatyn this afternoon (July 1).

North Wales Police said in a statement at 4.10pm: “Road closed: the A548 between Rhyl and Prestatyn will be closed for a short time while we deal with an incident.”

A North Wales Police spokesperson added: "We were called shortly after 3.30pm today to reports of an road traffic collision (RTC) on the A548 between Rhyl and Prestatyn, which has closed the road.

"Officers are in attendance, along with colleagues from the Welsh Ambulance Service.

"The road currently remains closed while we deal with the incident.

"Please avoid the area for the time being and take alternative routes where possible."

An eyewitness told the Journal that they saw “someone lying in the road”, adding: "I'm assuming it's serious, as all vehicles were having to turn around."

Attempts have been made to contact the Welsh Ambulance Service, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Wales Air Ambulance for further comment.
