THE business itself may have been running for just shy of a decade but in the three years Karen and Richard Winstanley have been in charge, they’ve truly made Maisie's Chocolate Shop their own.

Located just a stone’s throw from the Llandudno Chocolate Experience museum, the shop has such an array of sweet treats to offer that it would even be the envy of Willy Wonka.

It’s not only about quantity – with more than 80 artisan chocolates to pick from – but quality, too, as Karen and Richard go to great lengths to ensure they’re not “just another shop”.

Richard said: “Derived from finest ingredients, our sumptuous, eye-catching chocolates offer a multitude of flavours and textures.

“Presentation and service is hugely important to us: we’re very proud of our extensive artisan chocolates.

“We strive hard to create unique and nostalgic displays to offer an experience and not just another shop!”

Indeed, what matters most to Richard and Karen is putting smiles on faces – and they’re also assisted by their son from a manufacturing perspective, too.

Whatever your diet, taste, or special occasion, you’re bound to find something to indulge sweet tooth with something which tastes as lovely as it looks at Maisie’s Chocolate Shop.

Richard added: “Our son fortunately manufactures a large selection of our products, the latest additions being the Welsh sheep, Dragon and the notorious Llandudno goat!

“Most dietary needs are catered for, and we welcome questions about our products.

“Not only do we have great looking chocolates, but the presentation boxes are lovely, too.

“We love being able to extend the customer's experience by directing them over to the chocolate museum, where further treats await.

“We particularly enjoy visits by school children after their museum experience, (in pre-COVID days), listening to their chatter and excited questions.

“At other times, we secretly share a laugh at mistakenly-requested chocolates and mispronunciations like the ‘Civic Cassis’ and the ‘Orange Blancmange’ - the complexity and joy of chocolate names!

“Being caught up in the frenzy of special annual events, the opportunities to create happiness are numerous.

“We’re acutely aware that we stand in a precious and privileged position - we can make a special difference to a person's day.”
