BANGOR Gymnastics Club has asked the public for donations to put towards repairing damage caused to its premises by flooding.

On Thursday (June 23), a pipe burst at its base on Llandygai Industrial Estate, which caused “vast amounts of damage” to the gym.

A page has been set up on the GoFundMe fundraiser website, where people can make donations, with almost £2,250 raised of the £25,000 goal that has been set.

A post on the GoFundMe page read: “On June 23, we discovered a devastating blow, with a burst pipe causing vast amounts of damage in the gym.

“The water has travelled from the front door to the back area just before the bars.

“As you can imagine, we are devastated and know our gymnasts will be too.

“Please be assured we are working behind the scenes to re-open the gym.

“The floor has suffered significant water damage - and will be the biggest issue for us being able to reopen.

“We are raising funds to cover additional costs not covered by insurance.”
