ON SATURDAY (June 25), Kinmel Bay took the short trip to Bastion Gardens, Prestatyn, to face newly-formed Saturday league team Bow FC in its second pre-season friendly.

Before kick-off, a minutes’ silence was held in respect for one of Bay’s players who recently lost his father.

It wasn't until the 30th minute before the deadlock was broken, with a tap in for Bay’s Tate Walker at the back post following a lovely ball whipped in from Anthony Jones.

Bay carried on pushing for a second but was nearly caught out by a long ball to Bow's right forward who broke away and was fast approaching the goal, only for Cole Rich to slide in and win the ball back.

Bay started to push harder and managed to catch a break on the 40th minute with a wonderful 30-yard strike from Callum Foster into the goalkeeper’s bottom-left corner.

In the second half, after Bay won a free-kick about 25 yards out on the right, up stepped Mason Richards, who placed the ball into the far-left corner, leaving the Bow keeper no chance of saving it.

Lots more great football was played from both sides, as Bow started to press more and put Bay under pressure despite their 3-0 lead.

But Bay dealt with it well and we were again awarded a free kick about 25-30 yards out; this time, more central than the first one.

Up stepped debutant Andy Booker to take the free-kick, but instead of taking a shot, he passed the ball off short to the left to Kai, who beat a player and played the ball across the goal to the on-rushing Jones,

He hit the ball well, but was denied by a goal-line clearance, but it fell to new signing Ryan Roberts from five yards out for a nice tap-in to make it 4-0 to Bay.

Bay carried on pushing for more and were soon rewarded again with a fifth from Booker; with some lovely footwork, he turned and shot, and the ball found the back of the net to make it five.

With 15 minutes left on the clock, Bow's first goal arrived, as their right forward ran clean down the wing before crossing a great ball into the back post for a nice finish from Macca Lewis at the back post.

The bit was between Bow's teeth and they pushed more and more, and were rewarded with a second goal from Kelvin Berks after Bay didn't deal with Bow's attack in the 88th minute.
