RHUDDLAN Dementia Group’s county and western and line-dancing afternoon had more than 45 people attend at Rhuddlan Community Centre on Saturday (June 25).
This included the town mayor, Cllr Mike Elgin, and his wife, Marianne, together with the chairman of Denbighshire County Council, Cllr Arwel Roberts, and his wife.
Both of the councillors are active members of Rhuddlan Dementia Group and Cllr Roberts is its chairman.

The group’s secretary, Cllr. Mike Kermode, said: “It was great to see some 45 people having a great afternoon doing country and western and line-dancing and to use this as a way of getting the group’s message over to people about dementia.
“Rhuddlan Dementia Group runs a number of events in the town as part of its work in raising the profile of dementia locally.
“Our events are open to everyone, but they are also dementia-friendly.
“It’s sad to say that dementia still has an unfortunate stigma about it, mainly because of people’s lack of knowledge about this progressive illness.
“Our other activities include the weekly ‘Sit and Be Fit’, chair exercise sessions, and the fortnightly ‘Music Memories’ singalong sessions. We are also running a ‘Beetle Drive’ in July.”
