There have been no end of memorable days at the Racecourse ground recently but for one Wrexham couple, there is about to be another.

The home of Wrexham AFC is to be the setting for the wedding day of Trudy Munro and Lee Griffiths, from Abenbury.

Next month will see the long-time Reds supporter say 'I do', when she marries her fiancé at the iconic Wrexham stadium.

And they have their fingers crossed for a special appearance from invited club owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

The couple had been together a year, having first met online, when Lee, 55, proposed to Trudy, 51, down on one knee.

The season ticket holder bride-to-be said: "We're actually getting married on site at the ground, and it's the first wedding there for a long time.

"We've always taken the kids, they're season ticket holders now too, we absolutely love it. It was my first thought for a venue, pictures on the pitch."

Mum-of-two Trudy will get ready at home on the big day, Saturday, July 9, and will then get taken to the club, where her dad, who used to work at the club, will give her away.

The wedding, plus day and evening receptions, will all be held at the Racecourse. About 30 guests will enjoy the ceremony and a reception in the Bamford Suite, with 100 invited family and friends celebrating the couple in the evening in the Centenary Club.

Talk moves to the club's famous owners and their initial takeover.

Trudy, who works for Jones' Fish and Chip Shop and Wrexham Lager, said: "It was amazing, I still can't believe it, that they've taken over!

"We did take invites for them to the club to be passed on but you never know. Any message would be fantastic."

As much as the pair are Reds fans, the wedding itself is themed in white, silver and lavender. Although Trudy doesn't rule out a Wrexham top or two at the evening reception.

There may even be a rendition of the song inspired by her favourite player, man of the moment, Paul Mullin.

The couple will then be planning a couple of days together in London, with a big family trip to Majorca later in the year.

And they will of course be taking their Wrexham AFC beach towels!
